CW617N

CW617N is widely used for manufacturing intricate parts requiring good machinability and hot shaping. It finds applications in plumbing fittings, electrical conductors, heat exchangers, automotive components, and decorative items. The alloy forms a protective patina that guards against corrosion and is included in positive drinking water contact lists. CW617N has excellent hot workability but poor cold workability. It is suitable for soldering and brazing, with limited welding applications.

• Lead (Pb): 1.60 – 2.50%

• Iron (Fe): Up to 0.30%

• Nickel (Ni): Up to 0.30%

• Tin (Sn): Up to 0.30%

• Aluminium (Al): Up to 0.05%

• Other elements: Up to 0.20%

• Zinc (Zn): Remainder (Balance)

Mechanical and Physical Properties

• Tensile Strength: Minimum 430 MPa

• Proof Stress: Minimum 220 MPa

• Elongation: Minimum 10%

• Density: About 8.4 g/cm³

• Electrical Conductivity: About 25% IACS

• Thermal Conductivity: Approximately 120 W/m·K

• Melting Point: Solidus ~ 880°C, Liquidus ~ 900°C
