C23000, also known as Red Brass or CuZn15, is a high-copper alloy typically consisting of about 85% copper and 15% zinc. It is recognised for its durability, corrosion resistance, and moderate strength, making it popular for commercial water pipes and architectural applications.

• Lead (Pb): Up to 0.05%

• Iron (Fe): Up to 0.05%

• Other impurities: Up to 0.20%

Fabrication and Corrosion Resistance

• Excellent resistance to dezincification and season cracking

• Good machinability rating of about 30

• Suitable for soldering, brazing, and oxyacetylene welding

• Good for gas shielded arc welding, but not recommended for coated metal arc welding or seam welding

• Excellent capacity for cold working, good for hot forming

• Moderate corrosion resistance, especially suited for potable water and outdoor metallic applications
