C34000
C34000 is a medium leaded brass alloy well-known for its high machinability and moderate strength, making it ideal for machining operations, hot stamping, and applications like fittings, fasteners, and components requiring good corrosion resistance.
Chemical Composition
Copper (Cu): 62.0 – 65.0%
Zinc (Zn): 33.0 – 37.2%
Lead (Pb): 0.8 – 1.5%
Iron (Fe): Up to 0.1%
Other elements: Up to 0.4%
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength (UTS): 340 – 650 MPa (49 – 95 ksi)
Yield Strength: 100 – 350 MPa (varies with form and temper)
Elongation: 5 – 41% (depends on temper)
Hardness: Rockwell B 53–91 (varies with form)
Machinability Rating: 100 (excellent for machining)
Physical Properties
Density: 8.47 g/cm³ (0.306 lb/cu in)
Melting Point: Solidus 1630°F (890°C), Liquidus 1700°F (930°C)
Electrical Conductivity: 26% IACS at 68°F
Thermal Conductivity: 67 BTU/(ft²·hr·°F)
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: 11.3 × 10⁻⁶ /°F
Specific Heat Capacity: 0.09 BTU/lb/°F
Modulus of Elasticity: 15,000 ksi; Modulus of Rigidity: 5,600 ksi
Fabrication and Uses
Excellent for blanking, heading, upsetting, roll threading, knurling, stamping, and machining
Excellent soldering; Good brazing; welding generally not recommended
Commonly used in plumbing fittings, screws, nuts, rivets, and fastener components
