C46400, also known as Naval Brass, is a 60/40 copper-zinc alloy with approximately 0.5 to 1% tin added to increase corrosion resistance, especially against dezincification and seawater exposure. It is an alpha-beta duplex brass alloy combining strength and moderate ductility, widely used in marine and industrial applications.
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: 11.8 x 10⁻⁶ per °F
Fabrication and Applications
Excellent hot workability and fair cold workability
Excellent soldering and brazing properties
Good resistance to wear, fatigue, galling, and stress corrosion cracking
Common uses include marine hardware, fasteners, valve stems, pump shafts, propeller shafts, and structural components exposed to saltwater environments
