IS 1634
IS 1634 refers to nickel aluminium bronze alloys widely used in engineering, known for their high strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
Chemical Composition (Typical)
Copper (Cu): Balance (~77-83%)
Aluminium (Al): 8-11%
Nickel (Ni): 4-6%
Iron (Fe): 2-5%
Manganese (Mn): Up to 1.5%
Silicon (Si), Tin (Sn): Trace amounts
Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength: Approx. 600 – 750 MPa
Yield Strength: Approx. 400 – 500 MPa
Elongation: 10 – 20%
Hardness: Typically 180 – 220 HV
Physical Properties
Density: About 7.5 – 7.8 g/cm³
Good corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater and aggressive environments
Maintains properties over wide temperature ranges
